Relax to the Sounds of Summer at Britannia Heritage Shipyard

14 June 2007

Kick back and listen to two great groups perform at the first free concert of the Musical Expressions Summer Concert Series at Britannia Shipyard, happening this Saturday, June 16 at 6:30 p.m.

The first group is Barry Greenfield and David Sinclair. They have been making music together for 30 years and their essence is beautiful guitar and thoughtful, unique, songwriting. Tom Harrison, from The Province, described their new CD , Heavy Horses, as “….intimate and direct. Marvellous.”

The second band, ShutterFly, is a Vancouver-based alt-country/pop group consisting of Taryn Sinclair on lead vocals, Zak Sinclair on guitar and vocals and their father, well-known guitarist David Sinclair (Sarah McLachlan, kd lang, Straight Lines). It’s alternative country, but it rocks. It’s pop, but it has soul. Fans have found their combination of youth and experience to be refreshing and unique. ShutterFly’s first CD, released in 2002, received airplay on country and college stations across Canada and in Europe and Australia. Their second CD, Fly Away Home, shows the courage and maturity one expects from the mainstream talent pool. Fly Away Home has excellent songwriting, embracing vocals and thoroughly satisfying guitar work. The first single, Wray's Corvette, has been getting airplay across Canada on country and college radio.

Musical Expressions Summer Concert Series at Britannia Shipyard is an eclectic monthly showcase of local performers, hosted by well-known Richmond musician, Cherelle Jardine. Concerts are free, so bring a blanket or chair and relax to the sounds of summer. The Britannia Heritage Shipyard is located in Steveston at 5180 Westwater Drive.
