City Seeks Youth Performance Groups

19 November 2007

The City of Richmond seeks expression of interest from individuals and organizations who are involved in performing arts to participate in a monthly event at the Richmond Cultural Centre.

Building on the strong tradition and practice of community involvement, the City is interested in developing partnerships with community members and organizations in the creation of a monthly Youth Performance Series. The intention is to showcase our youth and provide opportunities for students of the performing arts—voice, instrument, dance, etc—to perform in a public setting. This would benefit students and be a way for family members and the community at large to view and celebrate the talent and abilities of our young people.

Responding to feedback from the community, the Richmond Cultural Centre has recently completed the expansion and renovation of the stage in its Lecture Hall. This was done to accommodate the needs of community groups for more performance venues as well as to accommodate the demands of the City’s increased community-based programming. With an increased stage size of over 200 per cent, there will be a permanent space for a grand piano and opportunities to accommodate a wider variety of performances for our community.

If you are interested in participating or require further information, please contact Suzanne Greening, Arts Coordinator at 604 247-8320 or suzanne.greening@richmond.ca.
