Traffic Update Regarding Richmond Roads

04 December 2007

The melting snow and heavy rainfall have caused a number of traffic concerns in Richmond as City crews work to repair ruptured force mains.

In anticipation of the evening rush hour, drivers are advised to avoid the following areas:

No. 5 Road from Blundell Road to Williams Road
Crews hope to have this open soon.

  • Southbound:  Remains closed due to flooding
  • Northbound:  Remains open to single lane, northbound traffic only

Intersection of Granville Avenue and Gilbert Road
Traffic remains restricted until repairs have been completed by Metro Vancouver staff. Sanitary force main ruptured in the intersection

  • Northbound Gilbert: No through traffic, no left turn. Right turn only, single lane.
  • Southbound Gilbert: No left turn. Single lane through & right turn only.
  • Westbound Granville: No left turn. Through & right turn only.
  • Eastbound Granville:  Left turn permitted. Single lane through & right turn only.

Blundell Road west of Gilbert Road
Both directions will likely be affected in the next 24 hours

  • Eastbound:  Unaffected
  • Westbound:  West of Gilbert remains open with lane closures due to flooding

Advance warning signs will advise motorists of the disruption, however it is recommended drivers take alternate routes on their drive home.
