Join the Hands-on Fun at Richmond’s Public Works Open House
22 May 2007
Live music, a giant sand pile, big trucks and city equipment to play on and other fun and informative activities for the whole family will be on tap at the annual City of Richmond's Engineering and Public Works Open House:
Date: Saturday, May 26, 2007 Time: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Location: City of Richmond Operations Yard
5599 Lynas Lane, Richmond, BC
(one block east of Westminster Highway and No. 2 Road)
This festival-like event celebrates National Public Works Week and recognizes the important services our civic employees provide to our community every day.
For kids there’s a chance for some hands-on learning about the operation of heavy equipment at the wheel of excavators, dump trucks and other machinery.
Kids can also learn about how water gets to the tap, and about fire safety. They can visit the children’s play area complete with its giant sand pile or have their faces painted.
Parents are invited to visit the City’s Parks displays, take part in gardening and lawn care demonstrations, learn how to be Power Smart with tips on energy conservation and also learn how to conserve water.
The whole family will enjoy demonstrations by Richmond Fire Rescue, showing the tools and techniques they use to keep the community safe.
With a coupon, kids aged five and under are eligible for a free hot dog and pop for lunch, organized in part by Chalmers Elementary School and Manoah Steves Elementary School.
To receive the free lunch, please bring the coupon from the Open House ads published in the Richmond Review on May19 and 24. The media sponsor for this event is the Richmond Review.
Come out and enjoy all the fun-filled and informative activities!
