Richmond Holds Public Open House for Police Review
25 June 2007
With the goal of providing the best, most affordable police service that addresses evolving service demands in the community, the City of Richmond is conducting an extensive review to provide Council with information regarding alternative models used for policing services.
Richmond is a vibrant community undergoing very significant growth and change. To address current and future police service demands, including both volume and types of demand, the City is conducting a review to provide Council with detailed information on all models for a police service to:
- Ensure the City has the best policing model available to meet Richmond’s specific community needs.
- Guarantee that the policing model provides cost effective policing services and local accountability.
- Ensure Richmond’s policing service reflects the changing, more urbanized nature of the community and the region.
Until June 29, 2007, the public is invited to provide their valuable feedback which will be compiled and analyzed to complete the final report to Council this fall.
