Positively Senior - International Day of Older Persons - Update
04 October 2007
The 17th annual United Nations International Day of Older Persons (IDOP) was held on October 1, 2007.
Richmond Senior Services has produced a Positive Aging photo campaign which is on display at Richmond community facilities this month. We welcome your feedback on this year's photo campaign and are looking for older adults to appear in next year's pictures. To share your comments or get involved, please call Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services at 604-718-8450.
For several years running, world health organizations have identified Richmond as a community where people live longer. According to a recent report by Statistics Canada, people in Richmond have the greatest life expectancy in Canada. People in Richmond live an average of 83.4 years, almost four years longer than the national average of 79.5.
International Day of Older Persons is an opportunity to pay tribute to the older adults in our community, and to acknowledge that their significant contributions have made Richmond better in every way.
