New Recreation and Cultural Programs to Keep You Moving
18 September 2007
The City of Richmond Recreation and Cultural Services Division offers a wide range of experiences for you to get moving and stay active this fall.
Registration is underway at local community facilities with programs for people of all ages everyone, including Dance, Basketball, Yoga, Skating, Swimming and Heart Wellness. These programs and others have been designed to encourage people in the community to get you active as well as exercise your mind.
“We’re working hard to provide more opportunities to support the City’s commitment to increase physical activity by 20 per cent by 2010” says, Alex Homeniuk, Community Facilities Coordinator. “This September, we’re introducing a Grade 5 Active! Pass to help students in Richmond increase their physical activity levels.”
The Grade 5 Active! Pass is available at all community centres to Richmond residents who are registered in Grade 5. It includes free admission to drop-in swimming at Watermania and Minoru Aquatic Centre, drop-in skating at Richmond Ice Centre and Minoru Arenas, West Richmond Pitch and Putt with a paying adult, and various drop-in programs at local community centres.
Registration for recreational programs is easy to do and is available 24-hours a day seven days a week. You can conveniently register for any program by using one of four methods: the Internet, the Registration Call Centre, your touch-tone telephone, or in-person at local community facilities.
To register online, visit this site's Program Registration page. Touch-tone telephone users can register anytime by phoning 604-276-4300 and following voice prompts. Customers can also sign up for programs offered at any civic facility through the City’s Registration Call Centre by dialling 604-276-4300, Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and pressing “0” for a Customer Service Agent.
In addition, the popular Recreation & Culture Guide is available at all civic facilities, local Safeway and Save On Foods stores or online on the Recreation & Culture Guide pages.
