Celebrate Chinese New Year Festivities at Brighouse Library
22 February 2007The entire family can kick off the Year of the Pig at Richmond Public Library. Fun, free activities for all ages will take place on Sunday, February 25 from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. in the library and lecture hall at the Brighouse (Main) Branch, located at 7700 Minoru Gate.
Crafts, games and displays will start at 11:00 a.m. in the Brighouse library. Performances will start at 12:30 p.m. in the lecture hall.
Displays and crafts in the library will include: Chinese painting; calligraphy; orchid culture and sale; Chinese riddles; games; and more. People can enjoy Chinese New Year decorations with lanterns, kites, lucky slogans and pictures.
Performances will include: a lion dance; martial arts; a skit on the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac; Chinese folk dances; a Hapkido demonstration; music and singing and break dancing, just to name a few.
Raffles with prizes and Chinese New Year snacks will be available. There will be lots of excitement, so come out and join the fun!
