Seniors Celebrate Wellness in Richmond
25 May 2007
In conjunction with Seniors Week held June 3 to 9, 2007, Richmond seniors can celebrate years of good health and wellness by taking part in Activate 2007.
On June 6, 2007, older adults can participate in the many activities at this year’s Seniors Wellness Fair. Featuring keynote speaker Olga Kotelko, Senior Olympian, Activate features other activities such as a ceremonial walk, wellness and holistic health services, volunteer/health fair, as well as interactive entertainment, including belly dancing and a drumming circle.
In Richmond, seniors are involved in the community in many ways and Activate is one way to celebrate and recognize their involvement in helping Richmond achieve its vision of being “the most livable, appealing and well-managed community in Canada.”
“Improving quality of life is one of Richmond Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services main goals,” says Donna Vines, Special Projects Coordinator. “It’s about developing healthy minds and bodies and providing more opportunities for people in the community.”
