Richmond to Celebrate Spirit of BC Week 2007
25 January 2007
Residents of Richmond will celebrate the countdown to the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games during Spirit of BC Week February 9-17, 2007.
Spirit of BC Week is an annual weeklong celebration that showcases pride in our province and profiles local programs and services that strengthen sport and recreation, healthy living, arts and culture, literacy and volunteerism.
Over 90 Spirit of BC Committees have been formed, like the committee in Richmond, representing over 200 communities across the province, to build a local Spirit of BC Week program that generates energy and excitement for the spirit that is uniquely British Columbia.
“Spirit of BC Week was originally launched as a countdown to the 2010 Winter Games, but it’s much more – it’s a celebration of British Columbia and its unique communities,” says, Jack Wong, member of the Richmond Spirit of BC Community Committee. “The Spirit of BC program promotes community innovation, pride and excellence to create unique and lasting legacies for British Columbians, leading up to the 2010 Winter Games and beyond.”
The Richmond Spirit of BC Committee is excited to recognize a program of activities for Spirit of BC Week 2007. Visit the Spirit of BC Week section to view events scheduled for the week or contact 604-276-4300.
Supported by 2010 Legacies Now and the Province of British Columbia, Spirit of BC is a province-wide initiative that promotes community innovation, pride and excellence, and involves British Columbians in the opportunities arising from the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Spirit of BC committees aim to inspire people of all ages to address the needs in their community related to sport and recreation, healthy living, arts and culture, literacy and volunteerism.
