Remembrance Day Ceremonies Set for Richmond

Richmond’s veterans organizations invite the community to attend this year’s Remembrance Day Cenotaph Ceremonies and parade.

The Remembrance Day parade includes the Royal Canadian Legion, Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans Association members, a colour party and representation from the RCMP and cadet organizations.
Marching units will assemble in the City Hall parking area before proceeding at 10:25 a.m. along Granville Avenue to the Cenotaph located on No. 3 Road on the East side of City Hall, for the Remembrance Day ceremonies.
Official ceremonies at the Cenotaph will begin at 10:40 a.m. Mayor Malcolm Brodie, Councillor Bill McNulty, Councillor Harold Steves and Silver Cross Mother representative Jessie Sieben will be among those placing official wreaths.
Following completion of the Cenotaph ceremonies, the marching units will proceed from the Cenotaph, west on Granville Avenue past a reviewing stand near the Richmond School Board offices, where Honoured Veteran Stan Mollett will receive parade salutes. The marching units will continue westward to access Minoru Park parking lot, opposite Moffatt Road, and to Minoru Pavilion, where the parade will conclude.
Portions of No. 3 Road, near City Hall, will be closed for approximately two hours to facilitate the event. There will be minimal temporary traffic disruption along Granville Avenue and Minoru Boulevard during the post ceremony parade.
