South Arm Community Association Announces it’s “Vibrant Community” Initiative

April 26, 2006

Richmond’s South Arm Community Association is taking a unique initiative to learn more about the surrounding community's needs and priorities. The information gathered will form the basis for the Association’s planning for future recreational services.

“For over 50 years, the South Arm Community Association has partnered with the City of Richmond to make our community a better place to live,” says the South Arm Community Association’s President, Ian Shaw.

The Association has retained Jennifer Wilson Consultants Ltd. and Points of View Research Ltd. to learn more about community needs and priorities. Their research will include conducting a telephone survey, interviewing local businesses and conducting community meetings to listen to the publics’ suggestions.

In April, the random telephone survey was completed. During May and June meetings will be held with current, potential and past customers. Community members are invited to attend and can contact the Association to obtain dates and find out how to give input into this important project. Local businesses are also being interviewed to identify ways in which South Arm Community Centre could better serve their employees needs.

“The customers’, businesses’ and local residents’ input will be critical to assist us in developing programs and activities to make our community a more vibrant place to live and work - and for creating optimal recreational and leisure activities,” says Shaw.

South Arm Community Association is committed to providing the surrounding community with a variety of programs, services, wellness initiatives, special events and outdoor activities to help enrich residents' lives.
