U-ROC Youth Awards 2006

The City of Richmond hosts the U-ROC (Richmond Outstanding Community) Awards each year during Youth Week to celebrate the achievements and dedication of youth, youth groups, adult mentors and youth friendly businesses within the Richmond Community.

These awards acknowledge those who have made a significant contribution to youth and their community.

Nomination Deadline:   Monday, April 22, 2006.

Individual Youth
Nominations can be submitted by any community member who feels they know someone who has contributed to the youth in the community within the last 12 months in the following areas:

  • Peer Counseling
  • Health Promotions
  • Substance Abuse Prevention
  • Community Involvement or Service
  • Creative Arts
  • Leaving a Legacy
  • Overcoming Disabilities or Adversity
  • Athletes as Role Models
  • Mentoring

Youth Groups
Youth groups can be nominated to recognize their contributions to others, their community or the environment within the past 12 months.

Adult Mentors
Adults who have shown dedication and commitment to inspiring, mentoring and making a difference in the lives of youth can be nominated.

Youth-Friendly Businesses
Richmond Businesses can be nominated if they have demonstrated that they have committed to providing safe, welcoming places for youth to hang out, volunteer, work or purchase products and services.

Please Note: All categories are broad and the examples are only listed as guides – please submit a nomination even if the person you have in mind does not quite fit the examples listed.

How to Nominate
Visit UROC to nominate a deserving youth, youth group, adult or youth friendly business. All youth nominees will receive an award.

This year’s U-ROC Award Ceremony will take place at Richmond City Hall on Tuesday, May 2, 2006 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
