Property Tax Notices Mailed

22 June 2006

Pay by July 4 to Avoid Penalties
This year’s due date for Property Tax Payments is Tuesday, July 4, 2006. If you have not received your notice, please contact the Property Tax Office at 604-276-4145 immediately. All property owners are responsible for payment of property taxes and applicable penalties, regardless of whether or not a tax notice is received.

New Owners – You are responsible for the payment of 2006 property taxes before the due date to avoid penalty. If you wish to claim your Home Owner Grant and the bill is still in the previous owner’s name, please bring your Freehold Transfer form and the bill to the Tax Department at City Hall.

A five per cent penalty is charged on all current taxes remaining unpaid after July 4, and a further five per cent penalty is charged on all current taxes remaining unpaid after September 1.

If you are eligible for the Provincial Home Owner Grant, please ensure that the application on the bottom of the tax notice is completed in full and returned to this office before the due date, otherwise the amount of the grant will be subject to the above penalties. The Home Owner Grant may be claimed even if no payment of taxes is made. This will avoid a penalty on the Home Owner Grant amount. Please Note: The Home Owner Grant Application must be completed for each and every year in which you are eligible for the grant.

The City of Richmond is located at 6911 No. 3 Rd. Payments are accepted at City Hall, and as follows:

  • By mail to: PO Box 94351, Richmond BC, V6Y 2A8 (post dated cheques accepted)
  • Through most chartered banks and / or credit unions
  • At drop boxes at various Community facilities, at City Hall and at Ironwood and Brighouse Libraries.

Please be advised that there may be a delay in processing payments through ATM machines. We advise that you check with your bank when choosing this method of payment close to the due date; this may result in a penalty and a small fee may be charged by these financial institutions. We suggest that payments being made close to the due date be brought to a teller as the payment will be date stamped.
