Spectacle of Lights - Santa Visits Steveston
29 November 2006
‘Tis the season to be jolly and there’s no better way to get in the mood than going on a winter hayride, carolling down the street and having Santa visit from the North Pole.
Festivities begin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, December 8. The Steveston Community hayride will start at the corner of No. 1 Road and Moncton Street and lead a carolling procession down Moncton to Fisherman's Park. Carollers will continue outside the Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site, where Mayor Brodie will light a majestic 40 foot tall Christmas tree.
After the tree lighting, enjoy a cup of hot chocolate, visit with Santa and watch some free entertainment at the Steveston Community Centre. Pre-registered hayrides will run throughout the evening. They are $4.95 per person and spots are filling up quickly, so Register online and search for Winter Hayrides.
Visit with Santa
On Saturday, December 9, bring a camera and take a picture with Santa when he visits the Village of Steveston. He’ll leave the reindeer at home and take a boat to the public wharf (next to Bayview pier) at 2:00 p.m. Pre-registered hayrides for $4.95 per person will start running at 6:00 p.m. and go throughout the night.
The free events are brought to you by local community groups, Tourism Richmond and the Steveston Community Society. For further information on the Spectacle of Lights, please call 604-718-8080.
