Free Skate Kicks Off Spirit of BC Week in Richmond
31 January 2006
A free Family Skate Day is being held on Saturday, February 4, 2006 at Minoru Arenas by the Richmond Spirit of BC Community Committee.
Richmond’s free skate is the official kickoff of the second annual Spirit of BC Week. From February 3- 10, Spirit of BC Week will capture the energy and excitement of the province with special events in the arenas of sport and recreation, arts and culture, learning and literacy and volunteering.
The Richmond Family Skate gets underway with an official launch ceremony beginning at 12:50 p.m. Free public skating is from 1:30 to 5 p.m. Admission is free, skate rentals are extra.
Supported by 2010 Legacies Now and the Province of British Columbia, more than 90 Spirit of BC Community Committees are working together to leverage Olympic, Paralympic, and other community opportunities in the areas of sport and recreation, arts and culture, literacy and volunteerism. The Community Committees are committed to developing local programs and events that demonstrate the five elements that define the Spirit of BC - achievement, effort, inclusion, celebration and excellence.
