Seniors’ Week acknowledges the diversity of seniors and helps to promote an understanding of and encourage positive attitudes towards seniors and their vital role in society.
The goal and objective of Seniors’ Week are:
- To recognize and honour seniors in Richmond
- To highlight the positive contributions that seniors are making in our community
- To promote an understanding of and encourage positive attitudes towards seniors
Celebrate Seniors Week in Richmond with open houses, free classes, workshops, special presentations, performances and lifestyle opportunities.
Main Events
Opening Ceremony
Date: Monday, June 5
Time: 11:30am – 1:30pm
Location: Richmond City Hall
Cost: $6/person
Details: Join the Mayor for the opening ceremony and proclamation of Seniors Week 2006. Celebrate the diversity of Seniors’ in Richmond with a delicious BBQ, entertainment, and fun for everyone! Tickets for lunch are available at any local community centre. Please pre-purchase.
Annual 55+ Golf Tournament
Date: Friday, June 9th
Time: 9:00am – 3:00pm
Location: Mylora Golf Course
Cost: $42/person
Details: Texas scramble format. lunch, taxes, and gratuities included. Registration is available at any community centre. Please register early to ensure participation.
Falls Prevention Fair
Date: Saturday, June 10
Location: Richmond City Hall
Time: 11:00am – 3:00pm
Cost: Free
Details: Guest speakesr, entertainment, informative exhibits, FREE refreshments, as well as prizes. You have a Senior in your future! Think ahead and stay independent.
