City Calls for Volunteers for Richmond PlayDay

23 May 2006

The City of Richmond Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services encourages individuals and groups to make a difference in the lives of children and families by volunteering for Richmond PlayDay.

At Richmond PlayDay, families can celebrate play and the fun and freedom that naturally come with it. The free community event provides an opportunity for kids and their families to get active by participating in a variety of Play Zones, including the Art Zone, Nature Zone, Sand Zone, Games Zone, Building, Safety and new this year, the Adventure Zone.

Last summer,  PlayDay attracted nearly 11,000 children and parents and this year even more families are expected to participate. PlayDay is one of many innovative programs supporting the City’s “Getting Richmond Moving” initiative and the Premier’s Challenge to increase physical activity by 20 per cent by 2010.

Richmond PlayDay will be held:

Date: Saturday, July 29th
Time: 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Location: South Arm Park, 8880 Williams Road

Online volunteer application forms are being accepted for persons interested in taking part in the Richmond PlayDay celebrations. The applications forms can also be faxed to 604-276-4132.
