City Offers Pay-by-Phone Parking

31 August 2006

Join the New Era of Pay Parking
The City of Richmond now offers pay-by-phone parking at all of its 40 on-street parking meters. The parking meters will accept payment by mobile phone as an alternative to paying with coins.

The benefits include:

  • Save money by only paying for the exact time you park
  • Eliminates the need to carry around excess coins
  • Pay for parking in the comfort/safety of your vehicle
  • Receive consolidated parking expense reports online

To use the service, drivers register online, then simply phone 604-677-0215 when parking, and provide the automated system with their parking meter number and the desired number of parking minutes. Drivers also have the option of receiving a parking expiry reminder via text message.

A convenience fee of 25 cents applies per transaction. As a promotion, users will get free parking the first time they pay-by-phone.
