Holiday Hours for City Hall and City Services

This holiday season, City Hall will be closed from December 25, 2006 through January 1, 2007.
City Hall will re-open at 8:15 a.m. on January 2, 2007.
City Services
Over the holidays, the following services will continue as follows:
Emergency Streets and Utilities Service
For emergencies such as broken water mains, sewer problems, downed trees on roads, traffic lights out, icy roads, or other problems of this nature, please call our 24 hour City Emergency Line at 604-270-8721.
Garbage, Recycling and Yard Trimmings Collection
Collection will carry on throughout the holidays, however, there will be no collections on December 25, 26 and January 1. Because this will bump collection days for all areas, please look at the schedule at the Collection Schedule to confirm when pick-up will occur. Watch for notice about Christmas tree recycling after the holidays. (The Works Yard will be open during regular business hours on December 27, 28 and 29).
Tax, Utility or Ticket Payments
Payments for taxes and utilities can still be made during the holiday closure. For more payment details, go to Property Tax for more information.
Parking
Bylaw violations/parking tickets can be paid online, see Parking Ticket Payments.
Richmond's mix of short and long-term metered parking, along with permit parking on City streets and in parking lots will be in effect throughout the holiday season including Christmas, Boxing and New Year's Day.
Short-term, on-street metered parking is in effect between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. daily in the downtown core at a cost a maximum of $1 an hour (25 per 15 minutes). All day parking is available in some areas for $1 an hour to a daily maximum of $3 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Community and Recreation Centres
Over the holiday season, our community facilities’ operating hours may be different than their regular posted hours. Download our list of Holiday Hours at Richmond Community Facilities, and visit the facility webpages or call the individual facility for more information.
Richmond Art Gallery
RAG will be open during their regular business hours, even on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve (Monday to Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m./ Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.). However, they will be closed December 25, 26 and January 1.
Libraries
All Richmond Public Library branches will be closed on December 25, 26 and January 1. The library branches will be open on December 24 and January 31 (Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve) and all other days during the holiday season.
