Tips for Tree Planting
Fall is a good time to think about planting trees. Because soils don’t really freeze here, tree roots can grow and establish into the soil surrounding the planting hole during the late fall and early spring. This means they will be better established when spring comes.

When selecting trees in the fall season, look at the roots before making your purchase. They should not be brown or dead-looking, nor should they be circling the pot. Fat buds and good twig length are also things to look for.

But the most important step any time of year is proper planting. Digging the right size hole, raising the planting site due to the high water table, and proper mulching are very important if you want a tree to grow well for a long time.
