Legendary Band Stonebolt to Energize Gateway Theatre

10 April 2006

The hit sounds of seventies and eighties band “Stonebolt”  will definitely bring a surge of energy to Richmond’s Gateway Theatre on Saturday, April 22, 2006.

Stonebolt was among the wave of talented Canadian bands to enjoy international success in the seventies. In just over 10 years, the group built a large following, while releasing four albums for two major record labels. Their sound often reflected influences as diverse as the Eagles and Styx.

Highlights of the band’s career included top 10 hits in Canada and Europe with “I will still love you” and "Don't ya hide it". "I will still love you" became a worldwide hit in 1978 and made the USA top 30. This earned the group an appearance on America's most watched music program "American Bandstand" with Dick Clark and on the USA TV program "Midnite Special".

By the time they disbanded in 1983, they had performed from Hollywood to Japan, received two gold records, Grammy balloting for best new group, and a SOCAN Airplay Award for most radio play in a year. In 2000 they released "Regeneration", their "best of" CD to coincide with the reunion gigs they began doing in the late '90's.

Gerry O'Day, Morning Host of 650 CISL - Vancouver's oldies radio station – will be MC for the concert. Cherelle Jardine will be opening the show with her new band, featuring songs from her newest CD - “Head Traffic”.
