Complimentary Parking Year-Round for Richmond’s Veterans

01 November 2006

Effective Monday, November 6, Richmond residents who possess Veteran licence plates and a distinct City of Richmond decal will be able to park for free, every day of the year, at on-street parking metres and off-street operations at Gateway Theatre, Bowling Green and Brighouse Park.

  • How to obtain Veteran licence plates
An application form can be obtained from ICBC or any Autoplan broker. There is a one-time application fee of $5 and it takes up to seven weeks to obtain the Veteran plates. For more information on the Veteran plates, contact ICBC or any Autoplan broker.
  • How to obtain the City of Richmond decal
On or after November 6, Veterans can come to City Hall, provide a photocopy of their ICBC registration papers showing their name, address and licence plate number and they will be issued a complimentary numbered decal. Place the decal inside the vehicle’s windshield in the lower corner on the passenger side.

Please note – decals are not available until November 6 and Veterans must adhere to parking time limits, even though parking is free of charge.

For more information on the complimentary parking decals, please contact Wayne Mercer, Community Bylaws Manager, at 604-247-4601.
