In August 2005, Hurricane Katrina devastated the City of New Orleans and impacted 450,000 residents. The majority of the New Orleans was Hurricane Katrina Damageunderwater due to failures of their levee system. Could this type of disaster happen in Richmond?

As part of National Emergency Preparedness Week, City of Richmond staff  will provide an informative presentation on the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and emergency preparedness.

The New Orleans: Then and Now presentation will be held:

 Date: Tuesday, May 9, 2006
Time:  7-9PM
Location: Richmond City Hall
Council Chambers
6911 No. 3 Road

Join us to share lessons learned based on a recent tour of Gulf coasts of Louisiana and Mississippi, learn more about Richmond's dyke system and flood mitigation, as well as tips on how to protect you and your family.
