City of Richmond, Staff Boost Tsunami Relief Effort

The City of Richmond and its staff have contributed more than $44,000 in support of tsunami relief efforts.

The City contributed $25,000, while staff pledges and funds collected at City Hall added up to more than $19,000, bringing the total contributed to $44,181. The donations will be shared among the Canadian Red Cross, UNICEF and Save The Children Fund.

The individual staff donations were submitted before January 11, 2005 making them eligible for matching from the federal government. This will bring the total value of the funds raised by the City and its employees to $63,362.
