Richmond Celebrates Opening of Garden City Park
30 September 2005
Come celebrate the official opening of Richmond’s newest community park. Garden City Community Park will be officially opened to the community on Saturday, October 8, 2005.
The City of Richmond’s newest and most unique community park features a diverse 20 acres of park, arboretum, lake, and wetland. Garden City Community Park combines a traditional park-like atmosphere provided by formal lawns and specimen trees with natural features, including a birch forest and a large pond-wetland-swale system. These features are complimented by a beautiful arboretum, in essence a living museum of trees originating from various regions of the Pacific Rim.
Opening celebrations include:
11:30 a.m. Assembly
11:45 a.m. Official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
12:00 p.m. BBQ, Entertainment, Face Painting, a Children’s Scavenger Hunt, and Self-Guided Tours
Future developments within the park over the next three years will include a playground, children’s water play area, basketball and tennis courts, and viewing decks overlooking the pond.
Please join in celebrating the opening of this new community park. The celebrations get underway at 11:30 a.m. with an Official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, followed at noon by a barbecue, entertainment, and self-guided tours
Come and explore the trails and experience the great outdoors right within the heart of the city. Garden City Community Park is located on Garden City Road between Alberta Road and Granville Road.
