Richmond Advance Elector Registration Ends Soon

Advance elector registration for the 2005 Richmond General Local and School Election will end at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, September 27, 2005.
The City of Richmond will be holding a General Local and School Election on Saturday, November 19, 2005 for the position of Mayor, eight Councillors for the City of Richmond, and seven School Trustee positions for the Richmond School District.
Eligible electors are urged to ensure that they are registered to vote, that their name is shown correctly and that their address is current. In order to qualify as a resident elector, you must be:
- A Canadian citizen
- 18 years of age or older on election day
- A resident of BC for 6 months
- A resident of Richmond for 30 days
- You must not be disqualified by law from voting
If you are voting for the first time in Richmond, and if you meet the qualifications to register as a voter, call the Election Office on weekdays to make arrangements to be added to the List of Electors during the Advance Voter Registration Period. The Advance Voter Registration period is underway, and will close at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, September 27, 2005.
If you are qualified to register, but miss the Advance Voter Registration Period, please note that you can register on election day immediately before you vote. However to avoid unnecessary delays, electors are urged to ensure they are registered now.
