Richmond Council Appoints Economic Advisory Committee

Richmond City Council has appointed 12 business leaders to the new Economic Advisory Committee, which will advise Council on economic development strategic initiatives and on ways to enhance and manage City resources to strengthen Richmond’s economy
Appointed for one year terms are Wendy Yuan, Leslie (Skip) Triplett, Joe Zallen, Haihua Yan, Tim Tindle and Florence Gordon. Appointed for two-year terms are Ray Segat, William (Bob) Laurie, Bruce May, Tom Corsie, Bruce Rozenhart and Walter Soo. Coun. Derek Dang has been appointed as Council Liaison to the committee with Coun. Rob Howard as alternate.
Committee members were chosen “at large” to reflect a broad spectrum of industry sectors including transportation, warehousing and wholesale trade; finance; development, construction and real estate; education; farming; manufacturing; ports; technology and communication; tourism; business; and entertainment.
The objectives of the Economic Advisory Committee include:
- Advising the City on implementing the actions recommended in the Richmond Economic Development Strategy and the report of the Richmond Economic Advisory Task Force.
- Advising on economic development objectives for the City
- Offering the City ongoing advice on new economic challenges and opportunities.
- Offering the City input on opportunities to integrate key business initiatives from local major business associations.
- Advising the City on overall economic sustainability visioning and initiatives that support economic sustainability.
- Advising the City on establishing and tracking economic development benchmarks.
- Providing the City with expert advice on key issues related to economic development.
