Air Quality Advisory - CANCELLED
16 September 2005
ISSUED : 8:30 am , Thursday September 15th , 2005
The GVRD issue the following cancellation of the previous air quality advisory, effective immediately.
Due to changing meteorological conditions and the reduction in fire activity at the Burns Bog fire, air quality in the region has improved. Residents are advised that pockets of smoke may persist over the next few days while fire-fighting activities continue, particularly in areas adjacent to or near Burns Bog.
The Chief Medical Health Officer for the Vancouver Coastal Health Region advises that residents can resume participation in normal outdoor activities (such as the Terry Fox Run). Where pockets of smoke persist, residents should continue to use discretion to reduce their exposure.
The air quality advisory may be re-issued at any time if air quality is once again forecast to deteriorate due to increased fire activity or changing meteorological conditions.
