Additional Richmond Oval Open Houses Announced
March 31, 2005
The City of Richmond is hosting two additional Public Open Houses to receive public input on the Preliminary Site Master Plan for the Richmond Olympic Oval, as well as post-Games programming options for the facility and the environmental assessment review.
Richmond Council approved the Preliminary Oval Site Master Plan at a special meeting on March 30, 2005. The preliminary plan will help guide the construction and design of the Oval, plaza and waterfront park. Council directed staff to conduct open houses to receive input on the preliminary plan, as well as options for the realignment of River Road.
A report on the Preliminary Site Master Plan is available at City Hall or can be viewed on the City’s website at: March 30, 2005 Agenda - Special Council
In addition to the preliminary site plan, the public will have the opportunity to provide input on the Oval Programming Plan, which will establish the post-Games functions for the Oval building and on the project environmental assessment being conducted as required by the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act (CEAA).
Two Open Houses will be held in the Main Galleria at Richmond City Hall, 6911 No 3 Road on:
Wednesday, April 6, 2005 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and
Saturday, April 9, 2005 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Staff will report public feedback from the open houses back to Council by the end of April. A final site master plan is expected to be completed by June.
