More Public Open Houses on the Olympic Speed Skating Oval

Aerial Oval SmallThe City of Richmond will host another round of public open houses from August 31 to September 3, 2004 to provide information on its plans for the Richmond Olympic Oval.

As part of an ongoing public information campaign, the public is invited to open houses at the following dates and locations:

  • Tuesday, August 31, 2004, 4 to 7 p.m., Steveston Community Centre, 4111 Moncton Street,
  • Wednesday, September 1, 2004, 4 to 7 p.m., Richmond Cultural Centre, 7700 Minoru Gate,
  • Thursday, September 2, 2004, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Aberdeen Centre, 4151 Hazelbridge Way, and
  • Friday, September 3, 2004 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Richmond Centre, 6551 No. 3 Road.

City staff will be on hand at the open houses to provide information and answer questions about the Richmond Olympic Oval project. An information package will be available, along with a display of architectural renderings that depict various components of the project.

An unmanned information display and information packages will also be available for viewing from September 7 to 10, 2004 at Richmond City Hall, 6911 No. 3 Road during business hours.

The Richmond Olympic Oval will be a world class multi-use community facility, which will host the long track speed skating competition for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

Post-Games, the multi-use facility will provide an active venue that harmoniously brings together summer and winter sports, recreation, culture, business and environment in a prominent waterfront location on River Road.
