Taxi Services

Additional demands for taxis are expected around the Richmond Olympic Oval and Richmond O Zone Celebration site, especially at the end of event times:

• Oval: for the exact competition schedule, refer to  the VANOC website
• O Zone: daily closing time at 11:00 p.m.
• Holland Heineken House within O Zone: daily closing time 2:00 a.m.

Temporary taxi areas will be provided between February 8 and 28, 2010 to accommodate anticipated increase in taxi activities.

Taxi loading/unloading zones (active pick-up and drop-off only)

• Lansdowne Road (eastbound curb lane), from Hollybridge Way to Gilbert Road
• Minoru Boulevard (southbound curb lane), near the crosswalk north of Minoru Gate
• Gilbert Road (northbound curb lane), north of the Gateway Theatre
• Granville Avenue (westbound bike lane), just east of O Zone south gate at Moffatt Road

Taxi stand (standing/staging only)

• Lansdowne Road (westbound curb lane), from Gilbert Road to Alderbridge Way

Things to know

• Within taxi loading/unloading zones, all taxis must be involved in active pick-up or drop-off, i.e., no staging/standing is permitted
• After a taxi unloads in a taxi loading/unloading zone, it must leave the area immediately, i.e., no staging/standing or picking-up passengers is permitted
• Within taxi stands, no passenger pick-up/drop-off is permitted
• Taxi loading/unloading in southbound curb lane along Minoru Boulevard will be required to make a U-turn at Minoru Gate, i.e., no southbound movements will be permitted during O Zone hours on Minoru Boulevard, between Minoru Gate and Granville Avenue
