City Departments Overview
Corporate Services
The Corporate Services Department is responsible for the provision of corporate services to City Council, the staff, and the public through the following Divisions: City Clerk's Office, Human Resources, Information Technology, and Customer Services.
Business and Financial Services
Provides business development and liaison services, as well as financial planning and management, tax and revenue collection, budget accounting and real estate services.
Community Services
The Community Services Department addresses emerging community and business sector issues and opportunities while providing the following corporate services: Arts Services, Heritage Services, Business Liaison, Film Office, Economic Development Major Events, Sport Hosting, Social Planning, Affordable Housing, Diversity Services, Youth Services, Senior Services, Environmental Services, Sustainability, and Energy.
Engineering and Public Works
Provides engineering design, construction and maintenance services for the City's infrastructure and all City owned buildings. Delivers and maintains the local water supply, as well as sewer and drainage, dykes and irrigation system.
Parks & Recreation
Works to ensure the provision of Recreation opportunities and manages City owned recreational facilities. Overseas the design, construction, and maintenance of City parks, trails and green spaces, the fostering of civic beautification initiatives and coordinating sports programming and special events in the City's parks.
Planning & Development
The Planning & Development Department is responsible for issues and services affecting the physical form of the City, including design, building and construction, development, land use, traffic and transportation, and social planning.
Project Development & Facilities Management
Project Management & Facility Services Department is responsible for the engineering design, construction and maintenance of the City's infrastructure and all City owned buildings.
Law & Community Safety
The Law and Community Safety Department brings together the City's public safety providers including police, fire-rescue, and emergency services, along with sections responsible for bylaw enforcement and for legal and regulatory matters.
