Business & Financial Services
Finance
The Finance Division is responsible for the financial well-being of the City, through the provision of effective and reliable financial advice, services and information to Council, staff and the public, as well as through the support and fostering of a viable business community.
The Department collects almost $303 million annually from various sources including property taxes, utility payments, service charges, and senior government grants and oversees the expenditure of these funds through the annual budget process.
Financial functions also include purchasing goods and services, controlling inventory, accounts payable, payroll, investment (including land assets), business advisory and development, insurance, and the provision of property tax
information.
Business Licences
The Business Licences Division is responsible for the issuance, renewal, and regulation of business licences, liquor licences, and commercial vehicle decals, and the administration of related bylaws.
Real Estate Services
The Real Estate Services Division, is responsible for handling the acquisition and disposition of land and real property for the City, negotiating rights of way required for various purposes, and providing information and advice on all these matters to staff, other agencies, and the public. The Division also administers the portfolio of leases held by the City (excluding residential properties, which are administered by the Facilities Management Division).
YVR Liaison
The division is also the official City liaison for the Vancouver International Airport (YVR).
