Mayor Malcolm Brodie

Mayor Malcom BrodieMayor Malcolm Brodie has been a member of Council since 1996. Following a by-election, he was sworn in as Mayor on October 29, 2001. He was re-elected as Mayor on November 16, 2002, November 19, 2005, November 15, 2008, November 19, 2011.

Mayor Brodie has been appointed as First Director to the Board of Directors of Metro Vancouver and he currently is the Chair of the Zero Waste Committee and also serves
on the Finance Committee, the Mayors' Committee, the Utilities Committee, and the Intergovernmental Committee.  He represents Metro Vancouver on the Municipal Finance Authority where he is a Trustee and Vice Chair. The Mayor was appointed to the Advisory Board of the Canadian Police College in 2011.  Mayor Brodie was the Director Representative to the Greater Vancouver Transportation Authority (TransLink) from 2002 - 2007, and was the organization's Chair in 2006 - 2007.

Mayor Brodie is the Chair of the City’s General Purposes Committee and the Finance Committee. In addition, the Mayor is an ‘ex officio’ member of the remaining four Standing Committees of Council.

Before election to Council, Mayor Brodie was a practicing lawyer and had a long record of service to Richmond in the volunteer community.
