Recreation Program Leader III
Applications are now being accepted for Summer Recreation Program Leader III (formerly known as Senior Leader) positions with Richmond community associations in Parks and Recreation. This is a supervisory position involving the delivery of inclusive, safe, and well managed summer programs.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Leads and organizes all games, crafts, activities and out-trips
- Assists Summer Coordinator in planning, promotion, and implementation of programs
- Assists in selection, training and supervision of leaders, assistants and volunteers
- Assists coordinator in the day-to-day maintenance of programs
- Communicates with parents and participants
- Maintains assigned budget and petty cash
- Keeps inventory of equipment and supplies
- Facilitates program and staff evaluations
- Special Event support
- Customer Service
Job Requirements
- Applied leadership experience with children and youth - min 12 months
- Direct Supervisory experience with children and youth - min 12 months
- Current Basic first aid certification (valid through to September 2010)
- Successful candidates will be required to complete a criminal record check
Education Requirements
- Completion of grade 12 and 3 years working with children in a recreational and/or childcare setting
OR
- Successfully completed 1st year university/college and 2 years working with children in a recreational and/or childcare setting
Recommended Qualifications
- Experience with Cultural Diversity and Special Needs
- Organized special events
- Class 4 driver's license
- Level 1 Coach theory
- 2-3 years working with children
- Volunteer management experience
- Second Language
Hours of Work
- Up to 35 hours/week 6-12 weeks $14.28/hr
Successful candidates are employed by the following organizations: West Richmond, Sea Island, Thompson, Steveston, South Arm, East Richmond, City Centre, Hamilton, Art Gallery and Richmond Arenas Community Associations; Nature Park, Museum and Britannia Societies.
