Summer Recreation Coordinator

Applications are now being accepted for  Summer Recreation Coordinator positions within several Richmond community organizations. This is an administrative position that involves the management and delivery of summer recreation programs and services for children.

 Duties and Responsibilities
  • Hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of leaders and volunteers 
  • Program planning, implementation, and development 
  • Program administration and maintenance 
  • Program evaluation and promotion 
  • Program budget management 
  • Coordinate the integration of children with special needs in summer programs 
  • Report writing 
  • Customer Service Coordination of special events 
  • Safety and Risk Management

Education Requirements

  • Completion of grade 12 and 5 years experience working with children in a recreational and/or childcare setting

       OR

  • Successfully completed 2nd Year University/College in the field of Recreation, Physical Education, Education or related fields and 3 years experience working with children in a recreational and/or childcare setting 

Job Requirements

  • Applied Leadership experience min 2 years
  • Direct Supervisory experience min 2 years
  • Current Basic first aid certification (valid through to September 2010)
  • Successful candidates will be required to complete a criminal record check 

Recommended Qualifications

  • Class 4 drivers license
  • Human Resources Experience
  • Experience with Cultural Diversity and Special Needs
  • Level 1 Coaching Theory
  • Second Language
  • Conflict resolution 

Hours of Work

  • Up to 35 hours/week 16-20 weeks $17.85/hr 

Successful candidates are employed by one of the following organizations: Thompson Community Association, City Centre Community Association, Sea Island Community Association or Steveston Community Society. This is not a City of Richmond position.
