Recreation Program Leader II

Applications are now being accepted for Summer Recreation Program Leader II(formerly known as Leader) positions with Richmond community associations in Parks and Recreation.  This person is mainly responsible to lead a designed program of games and activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Leads and organizes all games, crafts, activities and out-trips
  • Supervision and care of a variety of children in daycamp activities, sports and games
  • Works in a team environment to provide a safe, inclusive environment for children and youth
  • Program evaluation and development
  • Assists in the day-to-day maintenance of programs
  • Communicates with parents and participants
  • Special Event support

Job Requirements

  • Previous related leadership experience
  • Experience working with children – min 4 months
  • Current Basic first aid certification (valid through to September 2010)
  • Successful candidates will be required to pass a criminal record search

Education Requirements

  • Successfully completed Grade 10 by June 2010

Recommended Qualifications

  • Special needs experience
  • Customer service experience
  • Driver's license
  • Previous work experience in a professional environment
  • Volunteer experience an asset
  • Second Language/Experience with Cultural Diversity

Hours of Work

  • Up to 35 hours/week   6-12 weeks   $12.24/hr

Successful candidates are employed by the following organizations: West Richmond, Sea Island, Thompson, Steveston, South Arm, East Richmond, City Centre, Hamilton, Art Gallery and Richmond Arenas Community Associations; Nature Park and Museum Societies
